![]() As release 0.0.19 is being developed, today I wanted to share the news about two new recurring patients, or patients who will return to the clinic after the first time you examine them. The first one which you discover in the game is Monique, as she needs to return to the clinic since her eye problem worsened overnight. Another patient you should expect to see again is Katia, with her depression problems and two more will be added in 0.0.19: Kenny and Maryanne. Kenny is a police officer who's concerned about having Varicocele, a fairly common condition amongside law enforcement personnel. If untreated, varicocele could cause fertility issues. Depending on how you play his exam will determine if he will come back to the clinic, this time bringing her (hopefully) beautiful wife with him to be checked out. The other patient is Maryanne, a 13-years-old girl who's basically asking for help with the situation in her family. This exam will make you face the often underestimated problem of child abandonment and its consequences. Your choice, and yours only, will determine the outcome of this situation and its consequences that will be brought over the next time you'll meet Maryanne and her family. General Practitioner is like a doctor's job. It's made up of examinations, it's about meeting new people, it's about getting some knowledge about medicine and health-related topics... but it's also made of choices, and each choice will reflect on the game at some point.
I hope you'll keep enjoying the game. Be safe and healthy,

Hi guys.Today I'll tell you about the new Medical Exams interface and overhauled "Exam Help" setting. Whenever you choose a medical exam, being it from the brand new waiting room or by choosing a patient from the "Exam Mode" screen, the game will pop up an ID card for that patient, explaining the main characteristics of him/her such as ID (I'll come back to this right away), Difficulty, Type of Exam (Scripted/Random), Age and Ailment. The Difficulty is tightly related to the "Medical Aid" setting of the game. With this setting enabled the game will help you diagnose a patient and choose the correct prescription for him/her, provided your character's Knowledge Level is at least as high as the number shown in parenthesis (in the above image 45). Difficulties for exams are:
Enabling the Medical Aid shows two new icons next to the answers for both anamnesis and prescription. Icons represent the two most likely correct answers and make easier for the player to choose one of them as the correct one. Another important info is the patient ID Number. This is an unique 10-digit number that identifies each patient within the game. You can use this ID to play (or re-play) each examination in the game, both in Story mode and in Exam mode. The game will prompt you to choose if you want to visit the exam room or use your computer to access a specific patient ID. Then, you will be prompted to insert the proper ID, which you can find in the Codex for each patient (you can't copypaste that since this doesn't work on Ren'py's input screens). You have to put only numbers in the field, ignoring every other character (such as the "P" for Patient you can sometimes see in the game). If you input an invalid ID the game will inform you and prompt again to the screen. If you input a valid ID the game will load that specific exam. This has been included in the game for several reasons:
Be safe and healthy, Release schedule for 0.0.19 update which includes the features above: October 26 for 20$+ Patrons November 2 for 10$+ Patrons November 10 for 5$+ Patrons November 17 for 3$+ Patrons November 20 on the market (Steam, itch.io, Gamejolt, DLSite etc.) Development of the game is getting more and more ambitious as the game's almost turning 18 months old, halfway through final release.
You can expect more and more events and updates to be released in the next few months as the schedule is tight and there are many many things to do yet! The newest update to the game, nicknamed "What happens in St. Mary's..." (even though the clinic is not Vegas at all :D) is going to please many of you, I'm certain of it. These are the main features of the game's update and the release schedule. Many things will be added regardless of this list and will be explained in the Devlogs that are going to be published in the next few days. Enjoy, and keep supporting the game if you like this project!
Release schedule: October 26 for 20$+ Patrons November 2 for 10$+ Patrons November 10 for 5$+ Patrons November 17 for 3$+ Patrons November 20 on the market (Steam, itch.io, Gamejolt, DLSite etc.) Hi guys! First of all forgive the pronunciation in the video :(
The video above explains the brand new features that are going to be introduced with 0.0.19, the upcoming release of the game that will be announced next Friday! You will be now able to choose a patient from the Waiting Room (a resume of each patient will be added soon!) and not only meet them once they arrive one at a time to the clinic. This is made to improve the likelihood of working at the clinic. Also, the video hints at the new Steam Workshop feature (and not only there) which will make you mod the game introducing your own Medical Exams! The tool will be made so that you won't need to be a programmer to mod the game! These feature is very uncommon (if they even exist) on Visual Novels and I can't wait to see all your creations coming to the game! What do you think about these new improvements? No pun intended in the title. :)General Practitioner is not a porn game, rather it being a life simulator where choices really matter in the daily events that occur.
Still, it does have an adult content in it (unless you disabled it in the Settings menu of course), and that needs to have its own script like every other gameplay element. Creating a realistic sex scene is very difficult, even more than creatic a very dramatic or fiction scene, because each one of us has different experiences with sex and that causes to have different expectations as well. When writing a sex scene you always risk to make it feel too cliché, like a bad porn movie, or to make it feel too polite as the very opposite of that. Sex if fun, sex is weird, sex is messy. Mixing those elements in the game isn't a small feat and tapping into one own's experiences doesn't always help. So what I try each time I write something sex-related is to try and figure out what would mean to have sex with people so different from one another. Erika, Elisa, Rita, Christina, Aaron each have very different characters, they are more or less experienced, they had many different partners or not, so their own expectations will likely be different so are their reaction to your own doing. That's why you'll find harsh language in sex scenes with someone and maybe nothing of the kind with another one. One could shily ask you to join her in your room while another one could tear your clothes apart right where you stand. There is also the problem of writing dozens of sex scenes with the same person and that's time consuming and might cause unnecessary repetitions which could bore the player. But that's a discussion for our next devlog. Thanks for your support to this project. Be safe and healthy, |
